We are proud to be a member of the Boundary Waters Business Coalition and support the permanent protection of America’s most visited Wilderness. The Boundary Waters is a special place for millions of Americans who love hunting, fishing, paddling and outdoor recreation. Tourism in northeastern Minnesota supports 17,000 jobs and generates $913 million in sales annually. Take action today by submitting your comment to the U.S. Forest Service as it considers long-term protection for this Wilderness from proposed sulfide-ore copper mining. It was too warm to be out dogsledding today, but we spent a few minutes swapping tales from the Wilderness and are looking forward to cooler temps in a few days so we can hit the trail again. (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself with the “tale” pun!) A lot of folks have been asking us what they can do to help protect the Boundary Waters. Right now, the best thing you can do is join our Wilderness Warriors group. It only takes a minute to sign up and each week Save the Boundary Waters will send you easy, impactful actions you can take from wherever you are. Together we’ll make sure key leaders are hearing from us and that we stand up to attacks from anti-BWCA forces trying to undo recent progress and expedite sulfide-ore copper mining on the edge of the Boundary Waters. Follow the link in our bio to become a Wilderness Warrior! It feels good to take action and help protect such a special place, so please join us.

We hope you will join us by sharing, liking, and commenting on our posts, as well as sharing your own images, stories, and calls to action. Why does food always taste better in the wilderness? For me I think slowing down and enjoying the simple pleasures in life are one of the greatest gifts that places like the Boundary Waters provides to wilderness wanders.
This maze of pristine lakes and rivers are precious and we all must speak loudly for quite places like the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The proposed sulfide-ore mines along the edge of the wilderness threaten our nation’s most popular wilderness and the economy of wilderness edge communities.
Federal agencies are conducting environmental review of the Boundary Waters watershed — a review meant to identify what makes the Boundary Waters so unique, so clean, and so sensitive to pollution. The review will ultimately help determine whether the Boundary Waters is the wrong place for America’s most toxic industry: sulfide-ore copper mining.

Please submit a comment to the Forest Service today. The Boundary Waters belongs to all of us and it is up to all of us to protect it.

Can you name these lakes? Today I had the pleasure of flying in a friends small plane. He even let me take the controls and fly the tiny plane for a while. We were in the air for about an hour and climbed to 4,100 feet so that we could fly over the Wilderness. It was fun to look down at dozens of lakes that we visited during our #wildernessyear to @savetheBWCA from high above. Seeing the Wilderness from the air really gives you an appreciation for how vast it is, and how much pristine water it contains.
This is critical moment for the Wilderness. Please join Amy and me in speaking loudly for this quiet place. Add your comment during the Forest Service’s review of the Boundary Waters Watershed and help protect this special place. (Link in bio)

Life is simple in the wilderness.
Please follow us, like and share our posts, post your own photos and stories about the Boundary Waters, tag #savetheBWCA, and most importantly encourage as many people as possibly to submit a comment at http://ift.tt/2jgv14m (link in bio) and help protect the #Wilderness from sulfide-ore copper mining. We are in the middle of a critical 90 day comment period which will help determine if the Boundary Waters Watershed will remain protected from sulfide-ore copper mining.

Dave and I met because we were both drawn to northern Minnesota. Based on stories of Dave’s expeditions, even before I actually met him, I knew I had to meet this guy. Fast forward through biking and paddling across South America, kayaking the expanse of Lake Superior, years of guiding canoe and kayak trips, and of course an entire Year in the Wilderness, and we are still together. We both attribute our love of wild places to our early experiences in the Boundary Waters. So when we finally decided to get married, we had a dogsledding wedding on White Iron Lake. It was the spring equinox of YEAR and the sun was out in full force. We stood under the towering red pines, the dog teams lined up out on the lake. Our dear friend and co-founder of the Wilderness Classroom, Eric Frost, married us and Paul Schurke shared the words of literary and wilderness conservation hero, Sigurd Olson. [quote if you get it] As the reception ended, all the dogs howled in unison and we hopped on a dogsled. Our love for each other and our love for the Boundary Waters is strong. This Valentine’s Day, share your love for the Wilderness. Add your name to the @savetheBWCA petition during this critical comment period for the watershed envrionmental review and support our efforts to #savethebwca.

On February 13, 1909, Theodore Roosevelt signed a Presidential Proclamation officially creating the Superior National Forest. Please help protect this national treasure the Teddy protected on this day more than 100 years ago. Follow the link in our bio and submit your comment to the US Forest Service. We all must speak loudly to protect the Boundary Waters from copper mining pollution. #savetheBWCA #Wilderness #roosevelt #boundarywaters
