The cold bit our faces as we skijored today, but the dogs were invigorated by the cold and leaned into their harnesses. We expect wind chills of 30 to 40 below for the next 48 hours and are happy sitting next to the wood stove, listening to the wind whistle through the trees. We are thankful that our campsite is sheltered from the northwest wind. The dogs are all curled up on their sleeping pads, bundled in their jackets and blankets, with bellies full of food. Their excitement is contagious. It is a real joy to experience the Wilderness with them. “Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” – Roger Caras
