We packed up camp, lashed the toboggans, harnessed the dogs, and headed west to Basswood Lake today. The dogs were full of energy and ready to run. Our friend Max and his dog Zipper joined us today. Together we headed out across Wood Lake and navigated a series of portages between Wood Lake and Basswood Lake.
It was a real pleasure to ski along with the dogs, watching them work. I think we are all in our element out here in the Wilderness. What a special place; there is no place like it on earth and no place I would rather be. “If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them something more than the miracles of technology. We must leave them a glimpse of the world as it was in the beginning . . . .” President Lyndon B. Johnson, upon signing the Wilderness Act, 1964

We must protect this vast Wilderness for future generations. Please support @savetheBWCA and speak loudly for this quiet place. #wildernessyear #Wilderness #BWCA #BoundaryWaters #savetheBWCA #winter #WintergreenNorthernWear #dogs #dogsledding #onlyinMN
