Let it snow! We woke up to a dusting of fresh snow in Ely this morning. The small, shallow lakes are frozen, but most of the larger lakes have not frozen yet. It reminds us of freeze up in the Wilderness last winter. Over night a dusting of snow coated our campsite on Ensign Lake and we woke up to a wintery scene. The lake was unsafe to walk on, but we stood by the lake trying to catch snowflakes in our mouths. Like last year we can’t wait for winter to take hold so that we can explore the Boundary Waters by ski and dogsled. We will be guiding dogsled trips for Wintergreen Dogsled Lodge and can’t wait for the trips to start!
Snug in our houses its important to remember the the Boundary Waters remains vibrant and needs our continued resolve. Please sign the petition at http://ift.tt/2g9sy9L the link in our bio, talk to your friends and neighbors about the threats that sulfide-ore copper mines proposed along the edge of the Boundary Waters poses to our nations most popular Wilderness and encourage them to sign the petition and take action as well. Its up to all of us to protect this national treasure for future generations.
