The crazy wild fire season reminds me of this wild fire Amy and I paddled through in June of 2011. This photo and the heat from the 100 foot flames that engulfed the scene moments earlier are forever etched in my memory. Over 5 million acres have burned in Alaska this year. Hotter, drier summers are here to stay, the climate is changing and these big fires are one example of what the new normal could look like. #expeditionflashback #wildfire #wilderness #keepitwild #photoofday
