Its good to listen to the locals, but in the end you have to objectively evaluate your skills and make your own decisions. In this instance the sign seems pretty outlandish since we had already paddled close to 2,000 miles down the Mississippi River and there were no obvious hazards for experienced, well prepared paddlers in the wide big muddy waters below the sign. #expeditionflashback 2001
