Its great to be back in Mason City, Iowa sharing our #wildernessyear to @savethebwca with students and adults.

The @savethebwca party at @surlybrewing was such a blast last night. We met lots of great folks and @repbettymccollum gave a rousing battle cry for protecting the Boundary Waters for generations to come. We were excited to add the @mti_life_jackets that we wore during our Year in the Wilderness to the awesome assortment of auction items. Dave had worn his life jacket all through the North American Odyssey, Paddle to DC, and A Year in the Wilderness. After 12,000 plus miles of paddling in his PFD he had trouble parting with it when push came to shove, but in reality we are super excited that our PFDs helped raise money that will be used to help #savetheBWCA.

At this time last year we were walking across the lakes as they melted. This spring many of the lakes in the Ely area are already ice free. #savethebwca #wildernessyear

The Sigurd Olson Lecture Series rolls on! U of MN Morris and Saint Olaf yesterday, U of MN this afternoon, and Macalester tonight! #savethebwca

#wildernesswarrior turned #roadwarrior ! We have given 9 presentations in 4 states over the past 6 days. Today we are headed to U of MN Morris and Saint Olaf in Northfield to share our #wildernessyear to @savethebwca .

We dogsledded across Snowbank Lake in a white out to meet Kevin from @seekoutside . @landtawney from @backcountryhunters also joined on Snowbank during some crazy spring weather during our #wildernessyear to @savethebwca . I just landed in Missoula and I am looking forward to seeing Land and Kevin, and meeting lots of new friends at the Backcountry Hunters and Anglers annual rendezvous.

On our way south we stopped to visit an old friend… Did you know this sea stack used to be an arch? We’ve paddled this stretch of Lake Superior shoreline more times than we can count, leading groups of kayakers through the arch and in the various sea caves by Palisade Head and Shovel Point. Some wild places just feel like home.
