We headed into a blank, white canvas of snow. In the middle of Snowbank Lake no land was visible. It was like traveling inside a ping pong ball. We followed a compass bearing across the lake. It is always comforting to watch the faint outline of an island or point emerge from the whiteout. A thick wet snow has transformed a virtually snowless landscape into a winter wonderland in a matter of hours.
