To celebrate our 50th day in the Wilderness we made a feast. Amy baked bannock, which she decorated with a 5 and a 0 made out of dehydrated tomato slices. Plus, we made Annie’s Macaroni and Cheese for the first time since entering the Boundary Waters. We also treated ourselves to a generous serving of @patagoniaprov wild caught salmon. For dessert we are having two types of chocolate given to us by Brad, Barb, Elton, and Emily. Food sure does taste good out here!

We were finally able to get our satellite terminal to work properly today. Tomorrow we are headed east to explore the maze of lakes and rivers southeast of Knife Lake. We are looking forward to collecting water quality data in many new lakes, seeing some new country, and encountering more wildlife.

The more time we spend immersed in Wilderness, the easier it is to see its inherent value and the need to protect it for future generations. “Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your children’s children. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance”
-Theodore Roosevelt

November 12th is Give to the Max Day. Please support @savetheBWCA and help protect the Boundary Waters for future generations.
