11 months ago we left Ely, Minnesota in Sig, our signature canoe to paddle to Washington DC to help protect the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness from a series of sulfide ore mines being proposed on the edge of our nation’s most popular wilderness. 101 day later we paddled into Washington DC and delivered our petition canoe to the head of the U.S. Forest Service. Portaging past the White House was a moment we will always remember. Together we can protect this special place, but we must act now.
