I will always remember this little boy and how excited he was to paddle deep into the rainforest with his father for the first time. We hired his father to lead us from their tiny village through the flooded forest and to the headwaters of Pacaya River in the Peruvian Amazon. It took a full day to reach the main river I loved watching the boy pour water on his head to cool off in the middle of the day. It was easy to see the he was as excited about the countless birds and abundant wildlife as we were.
