Just enough snow clings to the portage trails to make our footprints and the footprints of many of the other forest-dwellers visible. We often see snowshoe hare, wolf, fox, and squirrel tracks. Occasionally we see moose and marten tracks. Its always interesting to see who else is wandering along the portage trails, or crossing the trails. Their tracks in the snow are the only clue that they passed by. We try to do the same, only leaving footprints as we travel.
I wonder how long it will before we start using our snowshoes.
We hope you will join with @savethebwca and their efforts to protect this wilderness from proposed sulfide-ore copper mining.
