Here you go:
It has been over 2 months since our #wildernessyear to #savetheBWCA ended. Amy and I have been busy giving presentations, screening #BearWitness, working on a book about A Year in the Wilderness that @milkweed_books will publish, and adjusting to life outside the Wilderness. It has been hard not being surrounding by silence, clean air, and water we can drink right out of the lake.
I miss the Wilderness and long to return, but I understand that right now Amy and I need to speak loudly for this quiet place through our action outside the Wilderness with the knowledge that we will soon be able to return to the BWCA—maybe not for a whole year, but for many shorter visits.
I have spent a lot of time going through more than 16,000 images that we captured during our #wildernessyear , which causes thousands of memories and moments to come flooding back. Some images are perfectly composed and exposed. Others are blurry and out of whack, but they take us back to the silent, vast Wilderness that we know and love.
Today I enjoyed sorting through hundreds of images that we took while traveling with a group of Girl Scouts for several days in July. Their smiles, laughter, and songs kept us energized for days after we said goodbye and now these photos bring more smiles. I can’t think of a better reason to protect Wiilderness than for young people, those living now and for many generations to follow. These lakes and rivers, this watery Wilderness—it belongs to them.
Today is #WildernessWednesday so please share your own stories and images and help us @savetheBWCA
